Hello everyone, I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. This Thanksgiving I had to provide the turkey. This is my first time making the Thanksgiving turkey. I was very nervous because I didn’t want to mess up the main course. All I could picture was my turkey exploding like in the scene from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Actually it almost turned into a National Lampoons Thanksgiving disaster. I was preparing to brine the turkey. I didn’t have a large pot, but I was told I could use the roasting bag. Well, I placed my 20 lbs turkey in the bag plus 2 gallons of the salt water solution for brining. Big mistake. The bag burst in my aluminum pan and my kitchen was flooded with the salt water solution. Thank God the turkey stayed in the pan. Anyway, I seasoned and stuffed the turkey put it in the frig overnight and cooked it the next day. With a few prayers from family the turkey turned out beautifully and surprisingly moist.

Wow… the turkey looks good…. I had no idea about the two gallons of brine!
Despite the flooding, I’m sure your family enjoyed the delicious turkey!
